Fabulously Fit Friday

When I started this blog and really got into it a little over a month ago, I was weighing in at around 268 pounds. I was shocked when I stepped on the scale and saw that the number had gotten that, and disgusted with myself for letting it get to that point. But now, a little over a month after the blog really got going, I am weighing in at 256. Only 91 more pounds until I read my goal, which may or may not be permanent. I say that, because I have never seen myself at 165. At least not since I was younger. So, I don’t want to make unreal expectations. Once I get to 165 I’m going to see how my body is looking and go from there.

All of that aside, it’s time to talk about fitness! A week ago, I told all of you about my game to help motivate me on days when I wasn’t really feeling the whole fitness thing. While I’m still doing that on days when I have no motivation to work out or it’s too hot to go for a walk, I am also getting in some time at the gym at least 2 days a week so that I’m not stuck in my apartment working out all of the time.

So, let’s get to the topic of this weeks fitness friday post: equipment. When I decided I wanted to get fit, I bought a few things to help me along the way. Although these things are definitely not required, they have helped me change up my routine every now and then so that I’m not stuck doing the same things every day or two.

EquipmentI bought, two 5 pound dumbells, and a balance ball (swiss ball, whatever you wanna call it) that came with three resistance bands. So basically, I have the most basic stuff, but I love it.

Whether that be through the food they want you to buy or the gym memberships they talk about, the message always seems to be there. But, I don’t have money to spend like they do and I’m still going to kick this extra weight’s butt.

So keep being fabulous and working on being fit. If you have any questions, comments, or just wanna say hi, you can tweet me @courtneyweitz, follow me on Instagram @courtneymweitz, or post comments here.

I will leave you with this lovely image of me doing some push ups with my ball! Have a great night everyone!

Making Fitness Fun – First Fitness Friday Post

A while back, I posted that I was going to start working out. Then, I continued making excuses for myself. Whether they were “oh I’m too tired” or  “I have too much homework” they were pretty constant. But when I had my revelation, it really hit me that if I am serious about feeling better about myself then I am going to have to get serious about working out. Now, I am not about to go jump on the treadmill and run a mile, partially because I don’t think I could, but also because I wouldn’t enjoy doing that and I know it wouldn’t stick, at least not yet. So here is a little game that I created for myself based off a few things I’ve seen on Pinterest.

My jar of exercises!
My jar of exercises!

Here’s the plan. I made about 50 of these little paper stars, possibly more, and each one has an exercise written on the inside of it.

Every day that I can’t make it to the gym for whatever reason. I’m going to do two things; one, I’m going to play at least six songs on Just Dance 2, and two, I’m going to pick at least 5 of these little gems out of the jar. As the time continues to pass, I’m going to increase the number of stars I pull from the jar, but doing too many now, would probably kill me. Having these cute little stars, makes it like a game, which I can get into.

You can do similar things with popsicle sticks, or even just normal pieces of paper that are crumbled up into a ball or folded up, I just decided to make little origami stars because I think they are super cute.

Every Friday, I’m going to do a quick post about how working out is going for me. I may post about it other times throughout the week if I do something exceptional, but for now, once a week is a definite.

Let me know if you have any suggestions!
