Tip Tuesday Time 1

Alright so as promised, here is your Tip Tuesday post and a recipe to go along with it. This weeks tip is about Cinnamon. When I first got a Pinterest, all I saw was posts about how great cinnamon can be for a diet because of it’s regulatory effects. So, after reading a ton of different articles on cinnamon and why it’s “so great” for your diet, I found a single paragraph that pretty much sums up everything else that I read. The entire article can be found here, but here’s the paragraph that stood out to me:

“Cinnamon has a regulatory effect on blood sugar levels and simultaneously increases insulin levels in the body. It imitates the biological activity of insulin and increases the metabolism of glucose. Since high blood sugar levels can lead to increased storage of fat by the body, cinnamon helps prevent this increased storage of fat and enables you to lose weight. In addition, it influences the manner in which sugar is metabolized by the body and prevents the transformation of the metabolized sugar into fat. Cinnamon also delays the passing of food from the stomach into the intestine. Hence, you feel satisfied for a longer time and eat less. This helps you lose weight. Cinnamon also helps the body to process carbohydrates more efficiently and this assists you in losing a few pounds. Studies show that abdominal fat is more sensitive to the effects of cinnamon than fat from other parts of the body.”

So, all of the scientific mumbo-jumbo aside, adding a little bit of cinnamon to your daily diet, can help lead to great weight loss. But, don’t go over the top with it and read this article before you use it at all because there can be some dangerous side-effects that you want to be aware of.

Here is a recipe to help you incorporate cinnamon into your breakfast!

Apple Pie Oatmeal

One of my favorite breakfasts is oatmeal, especially fresh oatmeal with fruit. When I decided on this topic for my first tip Tuesday, I decided to make one of my favorite oatmeals and let me tell you, it was delicious. I call it apple pie oatmeal because it has a lot of similar ingredients to the filling inside apple pie, and it has the same sweet apple taste that can be found in apple pie. All of that being said, here is what you will need to make the oatmeal.

3/4 cup oatmeal 1 cup milk or water (I use milk) 1 teaspoon butter 1 apple 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 2 teaspoons brown sugar 1 tablespoon lemon juice
3/4 cup oatmeal
1 cup milk or water (I use milk)
1 teaspoon butter
1 apple
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
