I’ve always been a fan of smoothies and with the weather getting warmer, it’s a great time of year for them. It’s the time of the semester when it’s normal to have back-to-back papers do and everyone on campus looks like they haven’t slept in days (probably because most of them haven’t). Right now alone, I have two papers due tomorrow, one of which I’ve hardly started because I was working on a paper that I had due today. All of this stress and the lack of time leads to one thing for a lot of college kids; junk food.
This is the time of year when diets go out the window. It’s hard to find the time to cook food when you’re running between classes, the library, and work, while still trying to fit sleep in every now and then. But there are a few things that people should remember and some tips that I’m going to be updating throughout the rest of the semester.
TIPS:
1. When you cook, make a ton of extras so that when you’re on the go, you can just pop something in the microwave and have a quick meal. That way, you’re not going out to eat and spending money, or getting things that aren’t necessarily good for you at all.
2. Give yourself a break. I know it’s hard to imagine stopping for even a second when you’re only 4 pages into a 10 pager that’s due in 2 hours and you don’t have nearly as many sources as you should. But trust me, it’s the best thing you can do. Just five minutes of not thinking about your paper can make you feel so much better and, it can actually help you get your paper/project/assignment done a little faster.
3. Reward yourself. Don’t overindulge but you’re working hard. This is hell week. When you finish something, reward yourself for it, that way, you’re binging when you’re done. A small piece of chocolate or a small bowl of frozen yogurt is a great reward and it will help keep your sweet tooth satisfied.
That’s really all I’ve got for now, but as I sit here and write my next 10-pager that’s due tomorrow and I have maybe 2 pages of, I’m going to enjoy this delicious smoothie (it’s strawberries, mangos, and peaches by the way DELICIOUS). We can get through this.
